Greetings from London!
A group of Indonesian students eagerly welcomed President Prabowo Subianto to London, England, on Wednesday (20/11/2024). As observed by Kompas.com, President Prabowo was greeted with a beautiful bouquet of flowers upon his arrival at the hotel where he was staying.
At the location, several students from the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) London awaited his presence. Tessalonika Sitorus, a student at Queen Mary University of London studying LLM Commercial and Corporate Law, mentioned that they had been preparing for the welcome since the early hours of the morning.
“As the PPI team, we have been preparing since 6 in the morning, with some even waking up at 4 to prepare food and various documents to ensure President Prabowo’s arrival goes smoothly,” she explained.
Swara Reiki January, the Chairperson of PPI London, added that the opportunity to welcome President Prabowo was a valuable moment to meet him in person.
“I have never met the President before, so meeting him in person like this honestly makes me even more excited to learn,” she said.
Nicholas Chang, a student at Bayes Business School studying BSc Finance Hons, also shared his experience. He revealed that preparing to welcome Prabowo in London was a very memorable experience, even though he did not have the chance to shake hands or take a photo with the president.
“We have been preparing since three days before his arrival, involved in the advance team from start to finish. We conducted surveys at the airport and also at the hotel where President Prabowo was staying,” he said.
President Prabowo’s visit to England is part of his work trip after previously visiting several countries. In China, he met with President Xi Jinping before continuing his journey to the United States to meet President Joe Biden.
He also participated in the APEC forum in Peru and the G20 forum in Brazil. President Prabowo’s agenda in England includes meetings with King Charles III, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, and Deputy PM Angela Rayner. Additionally, he is scheduled to attend the CEO Roundtable Forum.
